Everyone warned me about my hormones getting all out of whack and to try and stay calm through all of this. I honestly didn’t feel any different the first couple of days. I mean, Craig annoyed me but it was his usual stuff, nothing new. I was a little more emotional but nothing crazy. I did cry watching the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving parade when Santa came out and kicked off the holiday season. It was just so magical. But honestly, nothing really had changed. Until Day 6…
On Day 6, I woke up at my usual 7:00am wake-up call, went downstairs, took my injections. Oh, I also added a 3rd shot to the mix, Ganirelix. This shot helps prevent premature ovulation. It was nice, it already came pre-mixed, ready to go! All I had to do was tap the top of the syringe to get any bubbles out, then inject. Super easy. This one burned a little too but nothing I couldn’t handle. I really felt my body getting tired.
At this point, I was going to the doctors everyday, getting blood drawn every day, I was getting tired. My body was starting to change. I was getting super bloated, it was getting harder to move around, etc. My nurse noticed that I was moving slower, and said that the medicine was doing it’s job so it was going to start to get a little tougher. She also said to me because I was so tiny (I am not), my body would feel it more. So you’re saying I’m skinny!!! (Tik Tok reference).
But I was getting closer. On Saturday, December 5th, I went in and they told me Sunday would be my last day of injections (Hallelujah)! My ultrasound showed 12 follicles so I was ready to trigger for my egg retrieval surgery. It was literally hour by hour when my surgery time would actually be. After my bloodwork and ultrasound Saturday, my doctor told me that Tuesday would be my retrieval date at exactly 9:45am. On Sunday, December 6th at exactly 10:45pm, I put the final trigger shot into me.
Craig was in the living room, trying to figure out how to record Elf. He kept asking me questions as I was doing this final, most important shot and all I kept hearing was ELF! I can laugh at it now…
