The next morning I woke up to a message from my doctor. My doctor’s office uses this text message service and that’s how they communicate with their patients. It’s awesome! I can literally send them a question and someone gets back to me within a couple hours or sometimes minutes. So here it is:
Here is an update of your IVF cycle so far (12/9/2020):
12 eggs retrieved
8 eggs mature and (ICSI’d) *I do not know what this means 🙂
5 eggs fertilized normally
So we have 5 embryos in the lab right now. We will do the genetic testing (PGS) on embryos that make it to the blastocyst stage on day 5 and day 6 (Sunday and Monday). On Monday (day 6) and we will know the total number of embryos.
I’ll be honest, I am a little nervous and scared that 5 are not enough. Typically, 50% of those 5 eggs will make it to the blastocyst stage so we’ll be lucky with maybe 2. I am hoping for 2 so we can freeze the other for a future baby but praying for one. But then those will also depend on genetic testing. I am trying to keep myself busy and keep hope. After all, that is what got us here in the first place.
IVF is a funny thing. It’s not as cut and dry as most people think. There is so much to actually get to the final transfer process. We’ll be lucky if we get there…
So now we wait, wait to see how many actually made it. No matter the outcome, I will be sure to post. In the meantime, if you’re the praying kind, please say one for us.
Just read this I had no idea how this all worked! So many doctor visits. I guess you’re either in or you’re out!! Praying for 2 good embryos 🤗 Love you
OMG this made me laugh out loud! So many doctors visits (almost everyday). Thank you for this and love you! ❤️
